Vi no final da página web da revista The Lancet que a mesma pertence ao universo .
Cliquei e entrei numa nova dimensão.
Fiz a minha pesquisa de saúde escolar invocando novamente o conjunto formado por "school health" e eis que se abrem novas perspectivas.

Começou por surgir um livro chamado "Manual of School Health", da autoria de Keeta e Bear (2002). Irei transcrever o descritivo do livro na sua língua original, com bolds meus:
"This comprehensive and practical guide to the health issues and concerns of students from birth through age 21 is thoroughly revised and updated in the newest edition. The book provides easy-access to information on developmental stages, learning domains, acute and chronic illnesses, medical syndromes, substance abuse, special education and emergency illness. New topics include diseases and medications, DSM-IV disorders, violence, adolescent health, 21st century challenges, neuroscience findings from the genome project, and biotechnology information related to growth and health".

Depois, entrei no "Pediatric Nursing Secrets", da autoria de Levasseur (2002).
Neste caso, o livro (é novamente de um livro que se trata) "addresses many of the "pearls" and clinical insights of pediatric nursing. This book offers a wide range of pediatric topics such as growth and development, school health, immunization requirements, the pediatric surgical and critical care patient and problems in body system such as respiratory, cardiac, neurological, musculoskelatal, hematology, and renal as well as the well and sick newborn. Its purpose is not to thoroughly address each clinical area but to point out interesting and important information for the nursing practitioner. It will address both outpatient and primary care issues such as nutrition and school health as well as inpatient and hospital care".
Parece ser interessante. Pena é que não estejam disponível on-line e tenham de ser encomendados.

Por fim, tentei um outro livro (mais um). Desta feita, chama-se "Architecture of Schools: The New Learning Environments", da autoria de Dudek(2000). Trata-se de um documento que se debruça sobre questões de arquitectura que é necessário ter em conta aquando da concepção de escolas. De facto, citando, o livro pode ser resumido como sendo o "standard design guide on schools architecture, providing vital information on school architecture. Mark Dudek views school building design as a particularly specialised field encompassing ever changing educational theories, the subtle spatial and psychological requirements of growing children and practical issues that are unique to these types of building. He explores the functional requirements of individual spaces, such as classrooms, and shows how their incorporation within a single institution area are a defining characteristic of the effective educational environment. Acoustics, impact damage, the functional differentiation of spaces such as classrooms, music rooms, craft activities and gymnasium, within a single institution are all dealt with. More esoteric factors such as the effects on behaviour of colour, light, surface texture and imagery are considered in addition to the more practical aspects of designing for comfort and health".

Enfim, só é pena que não se possa ver o conteúdo dos documentos encontrados. Porém, quem encontrar isto, encontra o link e pode ver nas páginas que abrir indicações preciosas sobre modo de comprar e onde encontrar cada um dos livris atrás citados.
